Centre for Drug Discovery, Development And Production (CDDDP) is a MacArthur Centre of Excellence in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan that will serve as a platform for training, research and development in the area of drug discovery, development and production (DDDP) to meet the needs of Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Our Vision
Centre for Drug Discovery, Development And Production (CDDDP) has been established as a Centre in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan that will serve as a platform for training, research and development in the area of drug discovery, development and production (DDDP) to meet the needs of Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Academics
The Centre has established postgraduate diploma in Drug Development (PDDD) and Masters of Science Degree in in Drug Development and Regulatory Pharmacy (MDDRP) courses that will run sequentially. These programmes will run in conjunction with Purdue University, USA and Kilimanjaro School of Pharmacy, Tanzania. Both the PGD and the Masters components will involve coursework, thesis writing and industrial exposures within and outside the country.

Research
There is an urgent need to drive research aimed at developing more effective medicines to fight diseases that plague Africans. Unfortunately, poor technological capability is a major constraint for third world countries to make progress in research and development of new drugs.

The following consultancy services are offered by the Centre:

Our Visioni. Quality assurance of drugs: our expertise in drug analysis can be employed by the drug regulatory agency as an out-sourcing venture for the routine analysis of drug, food and cosmetic products in circulation within the country and in the West African sub-region.
ii. Bioequivalence studies for generic medicines under strict regulatory guidelines
iii. Toxicological and safety studies for orthodox and phytomedicines
iv. Clinical trials of medicines in both animal and human models
v. Development and manufacture of herbal medicines
vi. Hands-on training on SOPs, drug analysis, etc
