Dr. Adenike Okunlola graduated from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria where she obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), MSc (Pharmaceutics) and PhD (Pharmaceutics) degrees. She was awarded a Post-doctoral research fellowship as a Fulbright African Research Scholar in Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy, Schaumburg, Illinois, U.S.A.(2013- 2014); She was a Post-doctoral researcher - Research Group Linkage Programme awarded to Professor Oluwatoyin A. Odeku by the Alexander von Humboldt (AVH) Foundation in Germany (2011); Recipient - Indian National Science Academy-Tata (INSA-JRD TATA) Fellowship for post-doctoral research in S. K. Patel College of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Ganpat University, Gujarat, India (2009); Recipient - Nigerian Universities Doctoral Theses Award Scheme (NUDTAS) of the National Universities Commission (NUC) for outstanding PhD thesis (2008); Recipient - University of Ibadan Postgraduate School Scholarship and Teaching/Research Assistantship Schemes (2005 – 2008). She is a member of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA) and American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS).
Dr. Adenike Okunlola’s research focus is on the development of natural polymers such as starches, mucilages, gums and pectins as standard alternative excipients to some currently used synthetic polymers in drug delivery.
