
Dr. Temitayo Olayemi Ajayi is a registered Pharmacist, Senior Academic, and researcher with years of progressive experience in Pharmacy practice, teaching, and natural product research. She currently serves as the Acting Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
Dr Ajayi earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from the University of Ibadan in 2000, a Master’s (2008) and Ph.D. (2017) in Pharmacognosy from the same university. In 2019, she bagged a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from the University of Benin.
Dr. Ajayi’s research focuses more on Preventive Medicine by advocating Food as Medicine, Phytochemistry, and Drug discovery from natural products. Her commitment to innovation and excellence has earned her numerous grants, fellowships, and international recognition.
Dr. Ajayi has held key university administrative roles and with professional affiliations with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Nigerian Society of Pharmacognosy (NSP), Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), International Society of Ethnopharmacology (ISE), American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP) and the Society of Environmental & Public Health Professionals of West Africa (SEPHPWA) among others.
Known for her energy and dedication, Dr. Ajayi is a complete laboratory breed whose impact in the field of Natural Products Research continues to inspire mentees drawn from multiple disciplines, co-researchers, and the communities at large.
