Professor Mubo A. Sonibare is a Professor of Pharmacognosy at University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. She has twenty-eight (28) years of teaching and research experience at university level. She has held a number of administrative positions and served on several committees of the University of Ibadan. Prof Sonibare is the current Head, Department of Pharmacognosy, and Programme Coordinator, Medicinal Plant Research and Drug Development of the Pan African University Life and Earth Science Institute, PAULESI. She has served as an External Examiner to the Departments of Pharmacognosy in many Nigerian Universities for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Professor Sonibare was a research Fellow at Koishikawa Botanic Gardens, University of Tokyo, Japan (2002) and a TWAS-UNESCO Associate to University of Botswana, Garborone, Botswana, (2013). Prof Sonibare has received many awards including, Georg Forster Research Fellowship by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz, Germany (2008-2009), Georg Forster Research Return Grant (2009- 2010), University of Ibadan Senate Research Grant (2012-2015), Georg Forster Research Fellowship Further Research Stay at Jacobs University, Bremen, Germany (2015), Institution Based Research (IBR) Research TETFUND Grant (2017), Research Group Linkage Programme Award by AvH, Germany (2019-2021), Research visit to University of Oldenburg, Germany (2022). She has attended and presented papers at many local and international conferences in Nigeria, South Africa, China, Germany, and the United States. She is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Nigerian Journal of Natural Products and Medicine owned by the Nigeria Society of Pharmacognosy.
